Looking back at the creation path of the designer Han Feng, one can hardly define herself as an immutable social role. For many years, Han Feng has been freely wandering and creating in a variety of fields by choosing different methods. Exiling herself into a diverse culture, and makes life worth living in the expression of art.

Han Feng grew up in Nanjing and Hangzhou, and she graduated from the China Academy of Art in the 1980s and then moved to New York. Like most creators who went out from China in that era, Han Feng started her career in the unfamiliar Western world. Working from an ordinary salesperson, to a prominent costume designer, a theatrical stage costume designer, and innovative cuisine and culinary artist, as well as from a ceramic art creator to a contemporary art collector and photographer, Han Feng transformed her life into a legendary story with full of romance and uninhibitedness, as well as the intuition and delicacy unique to the Orientals.

In the spring of 2010, Comprehensive art curator Weng Ling had an emotional dialogue with women in Han Feng’s studio. It is not hard to foresee that Han Feng pursues her path incessantly. The diverse creation of Han Feng derives from her obsession with different materials, textures and technics semipro, exact as her inner passion to combine Oriental connotations with contemporary art. Han Feng rose to prominence in 1994, as the first Chinese designer to show at New York Fashion Week praised by the American media. She was responsible for the stage costumes in the new version of the opera “Madame Butterfly” directed by the British director Anthony Minghella in 2005, since then, she has completed many costume designs for dramas. The creative career of Han Feng is filled with incredible karmic encounters, as she stated in the communication of ‘Arts China’, pursuing her dream until the life enters into meditation with the perfect syncretic.

In 2017, Han Feng launches an art space in Amanyangyun, Shanghai, to exhibit her contemporary art collection over the years. A new series of photographic works “Gift” has been born from her adoration for food and ceramic art since the epidemic. She was continuing to dissolve the boundaries of artistic creation into the invisible.
