IDEAS Center @ Donghuamen 95

IDEAS Center

Located in the heart of Beijing, No. 95 Donghuamen—IDEAS Center stands just steps away from the East Gate of the Forbidden City, on land that originally belonged to the Imperial Palace. In the 1990s, its predecessors, the “Courtyard Gallery” and “Courtyard Restaurant,” created a legendary fusion of art and lifestyle in Beijing. The exceptional location, the culturally rich traditional courtyard architecture, and the versatile spaces balancing privacy and openness together forged the myth of No. 95 Donghuamen Street. At that time, the “Courtyard Gallery,” along with the “CAFA Gallery” led by Weng Ling in Wangfujing, served as key hubs for contemporary art in the 1990s, attracting brilliant insights and exceptional works from Chinese and international artists. Reimagined by IDEAS, the space has now been transformed into a forward-looking interdisciplinary cultural exchange center integrated with a Michelin-starred restaurant.
