Project Attributes: Urban Planning, Future Operations
Project area: 3.5 square kilometers
In 2019, the team led by Weng Ling, in collaboration with the Dutch architectural firm MVRDV, led by the master architect Winy Maas, jointly participated in the planning and bidding for the demonstration area of the core zone of the Hangzhou Grand Canal New City, covering an area of 3.5 square kilometers. This area encompasses the natural and historical context of the Grand Canal, the hills, and connects with the Hangzhou Iron and Steel Plant and Refinery, which hold rich urban memories and industrial heritage.
Through the concerted efforts in creating artistic spaces, domains, and events, the team aimed to enhance the city’s value through an artistic system, laying a solid foundation for the future ideal urban development of Hangzhou.
