In 2019, Weng Ling’s team collaborated with the Dutch MVRDV architecture firm, led by renowned architect Winy Maas, to participate in the planning and design competition for the core demonstration zone of Hangzhou Grand Canal New City, covering an area of 3.5 square kilometers. The project encompasses the Grand Canal, a natural and historical artery, and the Ban Mountain, while connecting the Hangzhou Iron and Steel Plant and the oil refinery, which are rich in urban memory and industrial heritage. Through the joint efforts of cultural and artistic spaces, venues, and events, the project aims to enhance urban value with a cultural and artistic system, laying a solid foundation for the future ideal urban development of Hangzhou.
